One Response to “Golf Courses 2011 Square 12X12 Wall Calendar”

  1. George Carlin said that cemeteries and golf courses were the two greatest wastes of land. I agree with the first especially since I’ll never be sure what part of it I will be thrown into, but the second! Ah, the second is not a waste to a person who can truly appreciate the peace, the serenity, the vista of a beautiful golf course, and this calendar presents thirteen of them. (July 2008 through December 2008 makes 13).

The calendar is also multilingual which means that days are written as dim-dom-son for Sunday or lun-lun-mon for Monday. They have also done the same for the months, so for the dum-num-slo who won’t turn the calendar page three times to figure out that it is March, or cannot figure out that Mars, Marzo, and März means March, it has March too. The date numerals are also large enough to be seen clearly from 12 to 15 feet away, and the 1¼ x 1½ boxes give you enough room to write important things on important dates. There are silhuouette numerals for the days of the month prior to and after the current month. These “silhouettes” are in soft gray, and cannot be seen from 12 to 15 feet away, maybe eight feet.

It has a warning that all times are in Universal Time (UT) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and that the reader should adjust the universal time to his or her time zone, and that certain dates may change because of lunar events. (Thanks for the tip).

It also contains the listings of the new, full and quarter moons with the UT to the hour and minute, plus it will notify you when Australia Day is (mate,) or the Chinese New Year is coming (the Year of the Ox). These are only in English, but Epiphany is also listed as Epiphanie, Dia de los Reyes, and Heilige Drei Könige. Fête nationale de la France is listed as such for July 14th, but there is no English, Spanish or German translation telling you it is the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille; October 3rd is clearly labeled as Tag der deutschen Einheit. (?) Ja, soitenly! But Canadian Thanksgiving Day is not listed, eh? The most important date of the year, January 20th, is blank, perhaps because a total blank is returning to Texas?

But the pictures! Hubba! Hubba! For me, it used to be Miss July, but now I can’t wait for April, Avril, or Abril to come so I can look at #6 on the North Course of Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, or May, so I can look at #13 at the Stowe Mountain Club in Stowe Village, VT. Whoof! The only letdown is that there is no picture of a link from the paradise known as Hawaii.

I highly recommend this calendar especially if you need to know when Daylight Saving Time begins in NZ (September 27). You might also consider this just for the beauty of the pictures of our beautiful Earth.

    Until then,

Happy Respect for the Aged Day!

    P. S. Fourteen more days and a wake-up. Thanks be to God!

    P. P. S. Vielen dank, brother, Gio. (Thirteen days and a wake-up).
